UK to Issue Only E-Visas for Bangladeshi Applicants from February 25
The High Commission confirmed that once a visa is granted, applicants must submit their passport information and create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to verify their e-visa before travelling
The British High Commission in Dhaka has announced that the United Kingdom will officially move to a fully digital immigration system for Bangladeshi citizens starting this Wednesday, February 25, 2026. This shift marks the end of physical visa stickers (vignettes) and Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) for all new applicants.
In a message issued on Monday, the mission confirmed that once a visa is granted, applicants must submit their passport information and create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to verify their e-visa before travelling. This verification process is mandatory and must be concluded prior to departure.
“The UK's immigration system is now being transformed into a digital system. From 25 February 2026, those requiring a visa to travel to the UK will only receive an e-visa. The e-visa will replace the visa sticker in the passport,” the High Commission stated.
Travel to the United Kingdom will be permitted only after all required information has been accurately updated in the UKVI account. The British High Commission explained that no fee will be charged for accessing UKVI services or creating the account.
This initiative is part of the UK government’s extensive efforts to modernise border security, reduce administrative delays, and streamline travel processes for international visitors. The digital eVisa serves as official proof of immigration status and is directly linked to the passport used for travel.
For detailed information and guidance on navigating this transition, applicants are advised to visit the official government portal at www.gov.uk/eVisa.
