Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment held a high-level coordination meeting on Monday to explore ways to increase overseas employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers and open new labour markets.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, brought together senior officials from both ministries to develop strategies to strengthen Bangladesh's position in the global labour market.

Discussions focused on increasing the deployment of skilled and semi-skilled workers abroad, expanding access to new destination countries and improving the welfare and protection of Bangladeshi nationals already employed overseas.

Those attending the meeting included State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Nurul Haque, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin and senior officials from both ministries.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the decision to form a joint committee to enhance coordination between the two ministries and ensure more effective implementation of overseas employment programmes.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment said the initiative was part of the government's election commitments to expand economic opportunities for Bangladeshis seeking employment abroad, while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
