Pak envoy highlights cultural ties at food fest
Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider hosted a vibrant food and fashion festival in Dhaka to celebrate shared cultural heritage and strengthen people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh
The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka hosted a vibrant food festival on Friday, showcasing the rich and diverse culinary heritage of Pakistan, while reinforcing the deep-rooted cultural connections between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider presided over the event, which attracted a large number of distinguished guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, academia, media representatives, and the general public. The festival, which continued throughout the day, provided an immersive experience of Pakistani flavours, fashion, and traditions in a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
Speaking to media representatives on the occasion, High Commissioner Haider expressed his delight at the overwhelming public turnout, calling it ‘very encouraging’. He underscored the importance of people-to-people engagements in strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. "Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep-rooted cultural bonds. Such initiatives not only celebrate our shared heritage but also pave the way for deeper mutual understanding and cooperation," he stated. He affirmed that the High Commission would continue to organise similar events to further cement ties and foster goodwill.

The culinary highlight of the event was a wide array of traditional Pakistani dishes, ranging from aromatic biryanis and grilled kebabs to delectable sweets like gulab jamun and kheer. Visitors enthusiastically sampled the cuisine, with many expressing appreciations for the authentic flavours and the warm hospitality extended by the High Commission staff.
Beyond the food, the festival also featured an exhibition by renowned Pakistani fashion brands, showcasing intricate textiles, elegant formal wear, and contemporary designs. The fashion display drew significant interest, particularly from members of the diplomatic community and their families, who admired the craftsmanship and vibrant aesthetics of Pakistani apparel.
Attendees from all walks of life lauded the initiative, describing it as a successful cultural bridge that highlighted the shared culinary and artistic sensibilities of the two South Asian nations.
