National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to resume flight operations on Dhaka–Sylhet–Manchester route from 1 July after completing this year’s Hajj operations, says a press release.

According to the Biman handout sent to media on Wednesday, the decision was made following directives from the minister and state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The route had remained suspended for some time. Biman decided to restart the service “to meet the growing passenger demand”, particularly from members of the Bangladeshi diaspora living in the United Kingdom.

The airline noted that detailed flight schedules and other operational information will be announced later.

Officials expect the move to strengthen air connectivity between Bangladesh and the UK, a major destination for Bangladeshi expatriates.
