Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flights to resume after Hajj: Minister
He said the Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flight has not been permanently suspended. It has been halted temporarily due to Hajj operations
Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, said on Thursday that the Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flight has not been permanently suspended. It has been halted temporarily due to Hajj operations, reports BSS.
"The number of flights on other routes has also been reduced. Flights on the Manchester route will resume after the completion of Hajj operations," he said while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar and reception organised by the Sylhet District Bar Association.
Ariful, who also serves as Minister of Labour and Employment, said the government is committed to meeting the needs of the people. He added that the government would work tirelessly over the next five years to fulfil the hopes and expectations that brought it to power.
The minister said the government is committed to ensuring that services for international passengers are user-friendly.
He said a meeting with senior officials from the ministry will be held next Sunday to discuss the existing problems at the airport.
Concerned officials will conduct on-site inspections to identify the issues and take prompt and effective measures to resolve them, he said.
He said that not only in Sylhet, but at all airports across the country, maximum facilities for expatriate passengers will be ensured gradually.
President of the Sylhet District Bar Association, Golam Yahya Chowdhury Suhel, chaired the programme, while General Secretary of the Sylhet District unit of BNP, Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, MP, attended as special guest.
Officials from various government departments and leaders of the Bar Association were also present.
