US Embassy in Dhaka Warns Medical Aid Use May Breach Visa Conditions
In a notice published on its verified Facebook page, the embassy said that reliance on US public benefits, including Medicaid, could affect eligibility for future travel to the US
The US Embassy in Dhaka on Saturday has reminded visa holders that foreign visitors who use Medicaid or other government assistance to cover medical expenses in the United States may be in breach of their visa conditions.
In a notice published on its verified Facebook page, the embassy said that reliance on US public benefits, including Medicaid, could affect eligibility for future travel to the United States.
“Foreign visitors who use government assistance to pay for their medical care in the United States are abusing the terms of their visas,” the notice said, adding that the financial burden of such costs ultimately falls on American taxpayers.
The embassy warned that individuals found to have misused or depended on public benefits could be deemed ineligible for future entry to the country.
The US Embassy in Dhaka regularly shares reminders and guidance on visas through its verified social media platforms, including information on application procedures, required documents and compliance with US immigration rules.
