US Embassy in Dhaka issues reminder on proper use of B1/B2 visas
The embassy stated that a visitor visa permits certain limited business-related activities like attending conferences, participating in meetings or negotiating contracts
The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a public advisory reminding visa holders of the proper use of B1/B2 visitor visas, informing not to work or engage in any activity to earn money while in the United States.
In a notice shared on its verified Facebook page, the embassy stated that a visitor visa permits certain limited business-related activities. These include attending conferences, participating in meetings and negotiating contracts.
However, the advisory made clear that B1/B2 visa conditions strictly prohibit receiving payment within the United States or working for a US-based employer.
“It is your responsibility to use your visa correctly,” the notice said, urging travellers to comply fully with visa regulations.
The reminder comes as US authorities continue efforts to inform international travellers about visa compliance.
