A marathon styled 'Beautiful Bangladesh Run Season-2' will be hosted at the scenic Hatirjheel point in the capital city of Dhaka next Saturday with an eye to promoting the country’s tourism and aviation sectors through this major public event, reports state news agency BSS.

The run, which is being organised by the Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), will begin at 6:00 am from Police Plaza, featuring a 7.5-kilometre competitive race and a 2-kilometre fun run.

An estimated 1,000 runners, including professionals from various sectors as well as members of the domestic aviation and tourism industries, are expected to participate.

M Rashiduzzaman Millat, state minister for civil aviation and tourism, will attend the programme as the chief guest and distribute prizes among winners.

ATJFB president Tanzim Anwar disclosed the details about the event at a press conference held at a city hotel on Thursday.

“We want to highlight the promising sectors of tourism and aviation through this mega event. Previously, ATJFB organised several successful tourism festivals as part of its social commitment. This run is a continuation of those efforts,” he said.

ATJFB General Secretary Baten Biplob and Joint Secretary General and Race Director Shafiullah Sumon also briefed journalists on various aspects of the programme.

Rhythm Group is the title sponsor of the event, while Bangladesh Tourism Board has joined as a supporting partner alongside US-Bangla Airlines, NOVOAIR and Air Astra.

Rhythm Group Managing Director Md. Shohag Hossain, Deputy Managing Director Abhir Hossain, US-Bangla Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) and Dhaka Post Editor Md. Kamrul Islam, and NOVOAIR Director (Sales and Marketing) Sohel Majid were present at the press briefing, among others.

Shohag Hossain said Rhythm Group was also associated with last year’s edition and hoped the organisers would arrange an international run next year.
