Biman’s reconstituted board holds first meeting
The session marked the formal start of the 13-member board’s activities following its reconstitution through a government notification
The newly reconstituted board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines held its first full-day meeting on Sunday at Balaka, the airline’s headquarters, focusing on key operational and strategic priorities.
The session marked the formal start of the 13-member board’s activities following its reconstitution through a government notification issued on April 25 by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, reports BSS.
The board is chaired by Rumi A. Hossain, sponsor director of Bank Asia PLC and chairman of its executive committee.
During the meeting, members reviewed the airline’s overall performance, including financial management, service standards, fleet expansion and safety measures. They also discussed the carrier’s long-term strategic direction.
According to an official statement, the board adopted several policy decisions aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening the airline’s competitiveness in the global market.
The government expressed optimism that the new board-comprising professionals from public administration, defence, banking, business, law and academia-will help transform Biman into a modern, self-reliant and internationally competitive airline.
