Emirates SkyCargo is set to launch a dedicated weekly freighter service to Dhaka from April 2026, aiming to strengthen trade links between Bangladesh and global markets through its Dubai hub.

The new service is expected to enhance connectivity, offering Bangladeshi exporters reliable and scheduled cargo capacity. The announcement forms part of the airline’s broader expansion of its South Asia operations, with increased capacity planned for both Bangladesh and India to meet rising regional trade demand.

As one of the world’s leading garment-exporting nations, Bangladesh is likely to benefit from the additional cargo uplift, faster transit times and improved supply chain resilience made possible by the deployment of a dedicated freighter aircraft. The move is expected to provide further support to the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector and other major export industries.

Alongside the Dhaka service, Emirates SkyCargo will expand its operations in India by adding two more weekly freighter flights from March — one to Mumbai and another to Ahmedabad. With the expansion, the airline’s total cargo capacity in the region will increase to an average of 3,000 tonnes per week.

At present, the carrier operates three weekly freighters to India — one to Mumbai and two to Ahmedabad — in addition to bellyhold cargo capacity on 167 passenger flights each week across nine Indian destinations.

Beyond air freight services, Emirates SkyCargo has also developed an extensive trucking network linking destinations across India that are not directly served by air. In 2025 alone, more than 1,000 SkyCargo trucks transported nearly 5,500 tonnes of cargo nationwide, strengthening multimodal connectivity.

The airline said its continued investment in dedicated freighter aircraft, road feeder services and specialised solutions — including temperature-controlled logistics — reflects its strategy to support fast-growing markets such as Bangladesh and India.

Currently, Emirates operates 21 weekly wide-body passenger flights to and from Dhaka, offering bellyhold cargo capacity and connections to more than 140 global destinations via Dubai.
