Bangladesh’s leading conglomerate Akij Group has entered the commercial helicopter business, offering services for patient transport, passenger travel, corporate and business trips, tourism, industrial operations, private travel and medical emergencies.

Akij Aviation Limited, a subsidiary of Akij Group, has launched the commercial helicopter service, the company said in a press release on Saturday.

The company said its service would enable passengers to reach their destinations quickly while offering a modern, comfortable and reliable travel experience.

Akij Aviation has initially launched the service with three helicopters. A Bell 505 helicopter has been assigned for patient transport, while two Robinson R66 choppers will provide passenger services.

According to the company, demand for helicopter services has been growing in Bangladesh as businesspeople and industrialists increasingly use helicopters for rapid travel and emergencies.

The service can also be used for emergency rescue operations in remote areas, transporting critically ill patients, urgent travel, film and television shoots, political tours, wedding ceremonies and private journeys, the company said.

Akij Aviation said it would provide safe and time-saving travel solutions for people requiring specialised helicopter services.The company also said it had launched a free air ambulance service to ensure emergency healthcare for poor and vulnerable people in Khulna Division. The service is being operated by Akij Aviation under the supervision of the Ad-Din Foundation.
