Apply for US visa from home home country: US Embassy

The US Embassy in Dhaka on Sunday advised applicants for US visas to schedule interview appointments at the embassy or consulate in their country of nationality or residence.

The embassy warned that applying from another country could reduce the chances of visa approval.

In a bilingual notice posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy said fees paid for out-of-country visa applications would not be refunded if an applicant is later found ineligible or unsuitable to apply from that location.

The advisory reiterates a longstanding requirement under the US Department of State's non-immigrant visa process, which applies worldwide, and directs applicants to travel.state.gov for further information on visa procedures.

The embassy said it regularly reminds the public of visa scheduling requirements to help applicants avoid processing delays and financial losses.
