The ambassador visited Rajshahi to experience the region’s renowned mangoes first-hand and learn about the district’s mango industry, agricultural potential and local development initiatives.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen has highly praised the taste and quality of mangoes produced in Rajshahi.

After visiting Baneshwar Mango Market in Rajshahi, the ambassador said, “Nothing beats Rajshahi mangoes. Very tasty!”

The US Embassy in Dhaka shared the information in a post on its verified Facebook page following the envoy’s visit to Rajshahi on 16 June. The post highlighted Ambassador Brent T Christensen’s fascination with the district’s world-famous mangoes during his trip to the region.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen visited Rajshahi to experience the region’s renowned mangoes first-hand and learn about the district’s mango industry, agricultural potential and local development initiatives.

The ambassador, accompanied by a four-member delegation, arrived at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi on a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the morning.

From the airport, the delegation travelled by road to the historic Baneshwar Mango Market in Puthia upazila before heading to the Bangladesh Police Academy.

At around 9am, Christensen visited Baneshwar Mango Market, one of the largest mango trading hubs in northern Bangladesh, where he interacted with traders and observed trading activities during the peak harvest season.

The visit formed part of the ambassador’s broader engagement in Rajshahi, aimed at gaining insights into the region’s agricultural strengths and local development efforts, with the district’s celebrated mango industry taking centre stage during the tour.
