DU Professor Dr Mamun made UGC member
Dr Mamun has been appointed as a full-time member of the University Grants Commission for a four-year term
Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun, a professor of the Department of Japanese Studies at University of Dhaka, has been appointed as a full-time member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) for a four-year term.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification in this regard on Saturday.
According to the notification, the appointment has been made under the relevant provisions of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission Order, 1973, as amended in 1998.
The order stated that the government may relieve him of his duties before the completion of the four-year tenure if deemed necessary in the public interest.
During his tenure, Dr Mamun will receive the salary and allowances equivalent to those he last enjoyed in his previous post and will be entitled to other benefits in accordance with existing regulations for UGC members.
The appointment will come into effect from the date of his joining, the notification added.
