Govt vows safe, hassle-free air travel
Ensuring improved, safe and harassment-free services for expatriate Bangladeshis and all air travellers remains one of the government's foremost priorities
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam on Saturday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring safe, efficient and hassle-free air travel for all passengers, particularly expatriate Bangladeshis, while urging people to remain vigilant against misinformation targeting the country’s aviation sector.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a free medical camp and blood donation programme in Manikganj town, the minister said improving passenger services and modernising airport operations have been among her top priorities since assuming office, says a press release.
“Ensuring improved, safe and harassment-free services for expatriate Bangladeshis and all air travellers remains one of our foremost priorities,” she said.
The event was organised in the Harijan Palli area of Old Launch Ghat in Manikganj to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
The minister said the government has undertaken a series of initiatives to modernise airport services, improve operational efficiency and create a more passenger-friendly environment across the country’s airports.
Referring to the recent spread of misleading information on various platforms, Afroza alleged that certain quarters were attempting to tarnish the image of the government and its institutions through the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the dissemination of false or distorted information.
She called on citizens to exercise caution while consuming information online and urged them to verify facts through credible sources before sharing content.
“People should refrain from circulating unverified information that may create confusion and contribute to misinformation,” she said.
The minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and transform it into a trusted, efficient and internationally reputed legacy airline.
She expressed optimism that the ongoing reforms and development initiatives in the aviation sector would further improve service quality and deliver tangible benefits to passengers, including expatriate Bangladeshis.
Physicians from different levels in Manikganj, as well as leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations, attended the programme.
