Nepal Festival celebrates cultural ties with Bangladesh
The objective of the festival was not only to promote the richness and diversity of Nepal’s culture and cuisine, but also to celebrate the artistic, musical and culinary ties between Nepal and Bangladesh
The Nepal Embassy in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society, organised the ‘Nepal Festival-2026’ at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Friday, featuring a food fair and a cultural programme to showcase Nepal’s diverse culinary and cultural traditions.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Nepalese Ambassador to Dhaka Ghanshyam Bhandari said the objective of the festival was not only to promote the richness and diversity of Nepal’s culture and cuisine, but also to celebrate the artistic, musical and culinary ties between Nepal and Bangladesh, says a press release.
He said these shared cultural traditions form a strong foundation for the multifaceted relationship between the two countries and continue to strengthen long-standing people-to-people ties and mutual understanding, according to the press release posted on the Facebook page of the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka on Friday night.
Speaking as the chief guest, Cultural Affairs Adviser Nitai Roy Chowdhury appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that the event would help bring the people of the two countries closer.
He also stressed the importance of promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges to strengthen the bonds of friendship and explore further avenues of cooperation.

Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy SK Rezauddin Ahmed, Chancellor of Pokhara Academy Padma Raj Dhakal and President of the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society Moshiur Ahmed also spoke at the inaugural session.
The cultural programme featured 14 performances, including traditional dances, folk songs and musical presentations by visiting artists from Pokhara Academy, performers from the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Nepali students studying in Bangladesh.
Nepali artists performed traditional music and dance forms, including Sorathi, Sakhiya, Lathi, Salaijo Jhyaure and Kaura. Bangladeshi artists also presented a Nepali dance and a Nepali ghazal, alongside Bangladeshi folk dances and musical performances.
The chief guest, accompanied by other guests, also visited the food fair stalls. A variety of authentic Nepali dishes were served at eight stalls, mainly organised with the support of Nepali students studying in Bangladesh.
The festival brought together representatives from government and non-government organisations, cultural and culinary enthusiasts, friends of Nepal, media representatives and members of the Nepali community living in Bangladesh.
