Rain, thunderstorms likely in 12 regions
Those regions may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or south-east at speeds of 45-60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms
Rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are likely to affect 12 regions of Bangladesh, including Cox's Bazar, by this evening, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In a weather bulletin issued for inland river ports on Monday, the Met Office said Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or south-east at speeds of 45-60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.
River ports in the affected areas have been advised to display cautionary signal No. 1.
Meanwhile, in its 24-hour forecast beginning at 6pm on Sunday, the BMD said many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds.
Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is also expected in some parts of the country.
The Met Office said both day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country during the forecast period.
