Minister Afroza Khanam urged government officials to work with integrity and without political bias
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam called on government officials and employees to carry out their duties with integrity, professionalism and commitment to the national interest rather than any political affiliation.
Speaking at a meeting of the District Law and Order Committee at the Manikganj District Administration conference room on June 14, Sunday, the minister said the country’s continued progress depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders and the effective implementation of the government’s commitments.
She stressed that public servants have a crucial role to play in translating government policies into tangible benefits for citizens and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and accountability.
“The responsibility entrusted to government officials is greater than ever before. They must work for the welfare of the country and its people, not for any political interest,” she said.
The minister also highlighted the growing threat posed by drug abuse and trafficking, describing it as both a law enforcement and social challenge.
She called for a nationwide social movement against narcotics, saying that effective action would require the participation of all sections of society regardless of political or social differences.
Afroza Khanam instructed law enforcement agencies to maintain a firm stance against drug dealers and strengthen efforts to curb the spread of narcotics in order to ensure social stability and public safety.
The minister further emphasised the importance of protecting playgrounds and open spaces, noting that such facilities are essential for the healthy physical and mental development of children.
She directed the district administration to take necessary steps to preserve recreational spaces and prevent their encroachment.Highlighting the government’s development agenda, Afroza Khanam said the current administration has received the mandate to govern through the trust and support of the people and must work diligently to meet public expectations.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, representatives of law enforcement agencies and officials from various government departments in Manikganj.
