Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on 28 May following the sighting of the crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Zilhajj in the country.

The announcement was made by the National Moon Sighting Committee after a meeting held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia confirmed the sighting of the Zilhajj moon a day earlier and will observe Eid-ul-Adha on 27 May, according to Gulf News.

Eid-ul-Adha is one of the most important religious festivals for Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
