Two Bangladeshi expatriates killed and seven injured in Middle East conflict

A Bangladeshi migrant among three people was killed and 58 others were injured in the United Arab Emirates during Iran’s retaliatory airstrikes following Saturday’s large-scale attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. It continued into Sunday while thousands of Bangladeshis living in the Gulf Arab states were panicked.
UAE Ministry of Defence said, "The incidents resulted in three fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities.”
The wounded include citizens from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, and Afghanistan.
According to the report of the New Age, The Bangladeshi victim was reportedly identified as Saleh Ahmed, 48, hailing from Baralekha of Moulvibazar.
‘Saleh had been living in Ajman province and working as water tanker driver for long. We came to know about his death from his family as two of his siblings are also living there,’ Md Shajahan, a neighbour of the victim, told the media.
At least four Bangladeshis were also reportedly injured in Kuwait.
It has been reported that one Bangladeshi national has been killed and three more have been injured in Bahrain, report UNB.
The gulf countries remain a key destination for Bangladeshi workers, with around 70 lakhs having migrated there since 2004.
