India to restart visas for Bangladeshis from next week
Bangladesh-India both sides held constructive discussions in New Delhi recently
India will resume issuing visas to Bangladeshi nationals from next week, including medical and business categories, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat following a meeting, Kabir described the move as a positive step in strengthening bilateral ties, adding that the decision has been agreed upon by New Delhi.
He said both sides held constructive discussions on a range of pending issues, expressing optimism that relations could advance further with a cooperative approach. “With a positive mindset, ties between the two countries can move forward significantly,” he noted.
Kabir also said Bangladesh conveyed its appreciation to India for supplying diesel through cross-border pipelines.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Kabir visited New Delhi on a three-day tour, where they met Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss a broad range of bilateral issues.
