Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) held its 19th syndicate meeting on Monday at its Dhaka campus, taking forward its plans for aviation and aerospace education.

In his opening remarks, Vice-Chancellor Rahman highlighted the critical role of specialised institutions like AAUB in fostering national capacity-building and supporting economic growth amid rapid technological change and globalisation. He pointed out that Bangladesh’s strategic geographical position, expanding civil aviation sector, enhanced defence capabilities, and growing space research initiatives position AAUB as a pivotal contributor to the country’s air connectivity, aviation industry, and aerospace development.

The vice-chancellor outlined the university’s vision to become a centre of excellence in aviation and aerospace through integrated planning, high-quality education, timely research, and effective governance. He emphasised that syndicate meetings play a vital role in shaping institutional policies and guiding the implementation of strategic initiatives.

Vice-Chancellor Rahman also stressed AAUB’s contribution to society, calling for collective efforts among faculty, staff, and stakeholders to foster growth, innovation, and resilience. He urged unity within the university to maintain a positive learning environment and highlighted the importance of collaboration in line with national interests, particularly amidst current geopolitical challenges.

The meeting included representatives from key government bodies, academia and industry, reflecting AAUB’s collaborative approach.

Discussions focused on strategy, research priorities and stronger industry links, reaffirming the university’s ambition to become a national hub for aviation and aerospace expertise.
