A US F-15 fighter jet crashes in Kuwait
Iranian state television has claimed that a US F-15 jet was downed over Kuwait because of Iranian air defence fire. The report, if verified, would mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and American-led forces in the region
Multiple American military aircraft crashed in Kuwait on Monday morning, though all crew members survived the incident, Kuwait's Ministry of Defence confirmed, as Iran continued its third consecutive day of retaliatory strikes across the Gulf region.
In an official statement posted on X, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence disclosed that several aircraft were involved in the crash. "Authorities immediately initiated search and rescue operations, evacuating the crews and transporting them to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment," the statement read. "Their condition is stable," it added, providing reassurance regarding the well-being of the personnel involved.
According to a correspondent for TRT World in Tehran, Iranian state television has claimed that a US F-15 jet was downed over Kuwait because of Iranian air defence fire. The report, if verified, would mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and American-led forces in the region.
Visual evidence circulating on social media platforms showed a jet descending in flames against the daylight sky. CNN's analysis of the footage suggested the aircraft was an F-15E Strike Eagle, a twin-engine fighter jet designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions. The F-15E represents a cornerstone of American tactical aviation capability in the Middle East.
The incident underscores the escalating volatility in the Gulf region as hostilities between Iran and US-led coalition forces intensify. The crash brings the conflict dangerously close to Kuwaiti territory, raising concerns about the safety of neighbouring Gulf states and the potential for further regional destabilisation. Kuwait's swift search and rescue response demonstrates the preparedness of Gulf nations to manage military contingencies amid the widening confrontation.
