The announcement coincided with the signing of a joint investment agreement between Iran’s Makan Tourism Group and Bangladesh-based Aero Versatilo Group to promote medical tourism
Iran’s largest private airline, Mahan Air, has officially announced the launch of direct flights to Bangladesh recently, strengthening bilateral connectivity and creating new opportunities in travel, trade and healthcare sectors of the two countries.
The announcement coincided with the signing of a joint investment agreement between Iran’s Makan Tourism Group and Bangladesh-based Aero Versatilo Group to promote medical tourism. Under the agreement, Makan Tourism will invest in Bangladesh’s healthcare and tourism sectors, while Aero Versatilo will deploy its proprietary digital medical tourism platform, Mediran, to facilitate cross-border healthcare services.
The ceremony, held on 6 February 2026 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, was attended by senior officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomats, and key representatives from the aviation, tourism and healthcare sectors.
Speaking at the event, Mahan Air’s Deputy Managing Director, Khadijeh Begherbayati, highlighted the expected benefits for passenger and cargo transport between Bangladesh, the Middle East and South Asia.
Aero Versatilo Chief Executive Officer Wing Commander (Retd) Alimun Nahar confirmed that CAAB has authorised the company to manage Mahan Air’s operations in Bangladesh. Services are set to begin ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, featuring wide-body aircraft, competitive fares and enhanced in-flight services.
