Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreed between Tehran and Washington would bring an end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Monday night, the SNSC secretariat said the Islamic Republic had concluded a difficult and intensive round of negotiations with the support of the Iranian people and the efforts of its armed forces, reports Iranian media outlet Tehran Times.

The statement said the process was conducted under the guidance of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the directives of the current leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

"Following the approval of the Supreme National Security Council, the text of the memorandum of understanding regarding the end-of-war negotiations (Islamabad talks) between Iran and the United States was finalised on the evening of 15 June," the statement said.

Under the agreement, all military operations would end immediately and permanently, including those involving Lebanon. It also stated that the naval blockade imposed on Iran would be lifted with immediate effect.

The SNSC secretariat said the MoU would be officially signed on Friday, 19 June.

It added that negotiations on a final agreement would be postponed until the other side had implemented its commitments under the memorandum.

US President Donald Trump welcomed the development in a post on his Truth Social platform and authorised the lifting of the blockade.

The signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Switzerland.
