The capital is set to regain its usual pace as the seven-day government holiday for Eid al-Adha ends on Sunday, bringing millions of working people back to work from Monday (1 June).

The government had declared a holiday from 25 to 31 May for Eid al-Adha, which, combined with the weekly weekend, provided public sector employees with an uninterrupted seven-day break.

With the extended holiday over, government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices are set to reopen, along with courts, banks, insurance companies and financial institutions. Regular activities are expected to resume across all major sectors of the economy.

Although a limited number of bank branches remained operational before Eid to facilitate essential services, the entire banking system will return to full-scale operations from Monday.

Trading at the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges will also resume as normal market activity returns after the holiday pause.
