Bangladesh Bank has instructed commercial banks to ensure sufficient cash availability in ATM booths during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays to prevent disruption in customer services.

In a circular issued on Thursday by the central bank’s Payment Systems Department, all of the scheduled banks were directed to maintain uninterrupted ATM services throughout the holiday period and ensure quick resolution of any technical issues.

The directive also requires banks to guarantee adequate cash replenishment in ATM booths and strengthen security measures. Bank officials may conduct regular inspections of ATM locations to ensure smooth operations.

Alongside ATM services, the central bank has asked financial institutions to keep Point of Sale (POS), QR code-based payments, internet banking, and online e-payment systems fully operational during the holidays.

Mobile Financial Service (MFS) providers such as bKash, Rocket, and Nagad have also been instructed to ensure uninterrupted transactions and maintain sufficient cash at agent points.

The circular further emphasizes fraud prevention measures, including raising awareness among customers and merchants, and ensuring mandatory two-factor authentication for card and account-based online transactions.

In addition, all digital payment platforms have been directed to maintain instant SMS alerts for transactions and operate 24-hour helpline services to address customer complaints and prevent harassment.
