Ambulance service rolled out at Shah Amanat Int'l Airport
With the launch of this service, sick expatriate passengers arriving at the airport will now have access to emergency ambulance facilities
An ambulance service has been inaugurated at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport to assist returning passengers, particularly sick expatriate workers arriving from abroad, reports The Business Standard.
The service was launched on Tuesday (February 19) by Group Captain Sheikh Abdullah Alamgir, Director of Shah Amanat International Airport. The initiative is a joint effort between the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and the BRAC Migration Program.
A coordination meeting was held at the conference room of the Chattogram Boat Club under the "Improved Sustainable Reintegration of Bangladeshi Returnee Migrants (Pratyasha-2)" project, jointly funded by the European Union and BRAC. Representatives from various airport-related organizations, including airlines and other stakeholders, attended the event.
Following the inauguration, Airport Director Group Captain Sheikh Abdullah Alamgir stated that since many international flights from the Middle East arrive in Chattogram, emergency ambulance services are frequently required.
He noted that BRAC was already working with expatriates at the airport, so they requested the organization to take the initiative in providing this service. He expressed sincere gratitude to BRAC for their efforts.
He further mentioned that returning passengers receive various types of emergency assistance, including counseling, food, transportation, and medical care. Over the past four years, more than four thousand individuals have benefited from such services.
