US marks 250th anniversary with red, white, and blue rickshaws in Dhaka
The US Ambassador launched 50 red, white, and blue rickshaws in Dhaka, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary of independence through a creative fusion of iconic local rickshaw art and American flag colours
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen launched a fleet of 50 rickshaws decorated in red, white, and blue to mark America's 250th anniversary of independence on Wednesday.
The initiative, shared on the US Embassy’s official Facebook page, shows the Ambassador riding one of the uniquely designed rickshaws through the streets of Dhaka.
"To mark America's 250th anniversary, Ambassador Christensen launched 50 red, white and blue rickshaws to honour American independence and highlight the strong US-Bangladesh partnership," the embassy stated on its official page.
On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate 250 years of independence. "With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history," said President Donald Trump regarding this historic milestone.
The vibrant initiative, which combines Bangladesh's iconic rickshaw art with the symbolic colours of the American flag, has attracted widespread attention on social media, where the vehicles were praised as a creative tribute to both American independence and Bangladesh's urban culture. The launch is part of broader celebrations in Bangladesh, including the opening of the American Founders Museum at the Edward M Kennedy Center in Dhaka and planned events during "America's Week across Bangladesh" in early July.
