Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has entered a strategic partnership with Sri Lankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the one world alliance, to enhance connectivity between the Maldives and a wide global network.
According to the press release of the Maldivian, the partnership, announced on April 22, aims to improve passenger access to destinations across both airlines' networks.

Seamless connections

Under this agreement, Maldivian will be able to accommodate more passengers from Sri Lankan Airlines' extensive international network on flights to 17 local destinations beyond the Maldivian capital, Malé. The collaboration will also enable smooth connections for travelers from key global markets into the Maldives via Colombo, strengthening travel links and convenience for those exploring the archipelago.

Additionally, the partnership will provide Maldivian passengers with greater ease and flexibility when traveling abroad, offering smoother connections through Colombo to a wide range of international destinations.

Boosting tourism and travel

"This partnership marks another important step in our efforts to enhance accessibility to the Maldives and strengthen connectivity beyond Malé to the atolls," said Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian. "With Sri Lankan Airlines' extensive global reach and our domestic network, this collaboration will support tourism growth while also making international travel more convenient for Maldivians."

Regional cooperation

The partnership aligns with both airlines' commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing network integration, and delivering a seamless travel experience. It supports the continued growth of tourism and business travel to the Maldives while enabling more convenient outbound travel for Maldivians.
