The officials from the US Embassy have expressed interest in seeing the buffalo named ‘Donald Trump’, which went viral at home and abroad ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and drew attention in international media as well.

The ‘Donald Trump’ buffalo weighs 700kg. The pink-skinned animal was so named because of its golden-coloured hair, akin to the president’s.

It is learnt that after the news went viral, US Embassy officials showed interest in visiting the much-talked-about pink buffalo, according to different local media and UK-based daily Independent.

After the news went viral, an official from the American Embassy contacted the Narayanganj Sadar upazila livestock officer by phone and expressed interest in seeing the buffalo. The 700kg buffalo has already been sold at a rate of Tk550 per kg to a buyer from Old Dhaka in the capital. It is learnt that the animal will be taken to Dhaka before Eid.

Interest surrounding the buffalo continues unabated on social media. Hundreds of people are visiting every day to see the pink albino buffalo at Rabeya Agro Farm in Paikpara area of Narayanganj city.

Visitors said the ‘Donald Trump’ buffalo’s hair and eyes resemble those of Donald Trump. An employee of the farm said they were delighted that the buffalo had sparked discussion both at home and abroad. Although managing the growing number of visitors has become somewhat difficult, they are not unhappy about it.

Ziauddin Mridha, owner of Rabeya Agro Farm, said hundreds of people visit every day and calls are also coming in from abroad. He believes his farm has helped spread recognition of Narayanganj. He also said the American Embassy had expressed interest in visiting the farm.

Narayanganj Sadar Livestock Officer Dr Md Yunus Ali said an official from the American Embassy had contacted him to ask whether the buffalo was at Rabeya Agro Farm. They had taken the matter positively and expressed interest in seeing the buffalo. However, it is not yet certain when they will visit.

The aggressive Netanyahu buffalo drawing crowds

There is also an aggressive albino buffalo named after Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu that has been drawing crowds in Narayanganj, reports UK-based daily Independent.

The buffalo, weighing at over 750kg, reportedly displays a "combative" attitude. Reports claim that the animal's hair and eyes bear a resemblance to Netanyahu’s.

"I came here after hearing about this buffalo," an unnamed visitor was quoted as saying by local outlets.

A manager at the SS Cattle Farm said that "Netanyahu is very naughty and has a devious intelligence”.

“Even when we go to feed it, it snorts and tries to gore us.”

The farm housed six albino buffaloes and all of them were temperamental, the manager said. "Large crowds are arriving every day to catch a glimpse of them.”

Buffalo named ‘Narendra Modi’ for its long white beard

Following the recent viral ‘Trump’ and ‘Netanyahu’ buffaloes, another unusual animal has now joined the list — the distinctive ‘Narendra Modi buffalo’.

It is learnt that the buffalo has drawn more attention for its unusually long white beard and distinctive appearance than for its name itself.

A video of the buffalo recently went viral. The video shows a faint whitish glow across the buffalo’s body and a long white beard hanging beneath its face, which easily catches the attention of visitors. People from various walks of life are crowding into the farm every day for a glimpse of the ‘Modi buffalo’.

However, the recently viral buffalo was not named ‘Narendra Modi’ by the farm. Rather, after its pictures went viral on Facebook, netizens requested that it be given the name ‘Narendra Modi’.

Nazir Hossain, manager of RK Agro Farm, told the media that people gave the buffalo its name after its picture was posted on Facebook. “The name was not given by us,” he said. He added that the Nili-Ravi buffalo had already been sold.

Narayanganj District Livestock Officer Dr Md Abdul Mannan Mia said farmers give such names out of their own interest. “It is entirely their personal matter,” he said. He added that the district has a surplus of sacrificial animals this year compared to demand.

He further said that 25 veterinary medical teams will work across the district to ensure healthcare services for sacrificial animals. These teams will be responsible for identifying sick animals and providing prompt treatment.
