US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent D Christensen attended the official launch of Uber's ride-hailing service in Sylhet, marking the company's expansion into another major city in Bangladesh.

According to a social media post by the US Embassy in Dhaka on July 8, Ambassador Christensen welcomed the launch, describing it as a milestone in Uber's growing presence across the country.

The embassy said Uber now has more than 350,000 driver-partners, has facilitated over 174 million trips and serves more than 7.7 million riders nationwide.

The launch of services in Sylhet expands Uber's presence beyond other major cities, aiming to provide residents and visitors with app-based transport options while creating additional earning opportunities for local driver-partners.

The US Embassy described the event as another step in Uber's continued growth in Bangladesh.
