Swajan Samabesh's tree plantation drive in Dhaka

Shyamoli-based writers’ organisation 'Swajan Samabesh' organised a tree plantation programme in the capital city's Agargaon area on Saturday as part of its initiative to promote a greener Bangladesh and mark the 82nd birthday of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Members of the organisation planted several fruit-bearing trees at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys’ High School in Agargaon in the morning. Later, they planted trees on the campus of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University as well.

Senior science teacher of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys’ High School, Azahar Ali Shikder, welcomed the initiative and thanked the organisers. "There is no alternative to tree plantation for protecting nature and safeguarding the environment,” he said.

Swajan Samabesh’s Alamgir Sarker Liton, Aviation & Tourism Times Editor M Aminul Islam, and teachers and employees of the educational institutions were present during the green campaign.
