The arrestees included 23 adult men, 2 women, and 15 children, totaling 40 individuals.

Airport Thana Police have arrested 40 vagrants and beggars in an operation carried out in and around the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in Dhaka.

The drive was conducted today, Monday (August 24), at the Airport Circle, BRTA station, Airport Railway Station, the area around the police box, the airport entrance, and the VIP road.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Airport Thana Kamrul Hasan Talukder confirmed the information.

Police said that among the 40 arrested individuals, 15 are children, 2 are women, and 23 are adult men. The process of sending the arrested children to the Children and Adolescent Shelter Home in Mirpur and the adults to the Special Court is underway.

According to Airport Thana Police, the presence of vagrants and beggars in the airport area has been a long-standing problem. Their presence was creating an uncomfortable situation for the movement of domestic and foreign passengers. This operation was carried out as part of regular drives to resolve this issue.

Police further informed that over the past few days, through consecutive operations, approximately 288 more vagrants and beggars have been arrested from the airport area. Including Monday’s 40, a total of 328 individuals have been arrested so far.

Airport Thana Police stated that such operations will continue to ensure the unhindered movement of passengers and overall security in the airport area.
