The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned that international students on US student visas risk having their visas revoked and could lose eligibility for future US visas if they drop out of school, skip classes or leave their programme of study without informing their institution.

The advisory was posted on the embassy's verified Facebook page on Saturday (22 August).

"If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your programme of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future US visas," the embassy said in the post. "Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues."

The embassy did not specify whether the notice was issued in response to a specific incident or as part of a routine compliance reminder for student visa holders.
