Etihad launches Dhaka Flights with high travel demand
The UAE based airways launched its new four-times-weekly Abu Dhabi-Dhaka service with a fully booked inaugural flight
Etihad Airways has officially started operations to Dhaka, with its inaugural Boeing 777 service from Abu Dhabi taking off on June 26 at full capacity reports Gulf News.
The new route, operating four times weekly, marks a significant expansion of the airline’s South Asian network. Flight EY382 departed Abu Dhabi at 10:00pm and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport the following morning. The return service, EY383, operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The wide-body aircraft features a two-class configuration with 28 lie-flat Business seats and 374 Economy seats, alongside substantial belly-hold cargo capacity. Beyond passenger transport, the service is strategically aimed at bolstering cargo connectivity, particularly supporting Bangladesh’s vital garment and textile sectors by providing efficient access to markets in the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
Etihad’s Chief Executive Officer, Antonoaldo Neves, attributed the sold-out launch to the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. He emphasised sustained demand from the large Bangladeshi expatriate community in the UAE, as well as diaspora travelers heading to the GCC, the UK, and the US via Abu Dhabi.
In addition to strengthening logistics, Etihad is promoting its stopover programme, encouraging travellers to explore Abu Dhabi’s cultural attractions.
With Dhaka now integrated into its network, Etihad continues to solidify its presence in South Asia, positioning Abu Dhabi as a pivotal transit hub bridging regional communities with global destinations. Bookings for the new service are now open via the airline’s official website.
