BERC announces increase in jet fuel prices
New rates take effect from midnight on Sunday
Bad news is Jet A-1, the much-needed fuel used to run an aircraft, has become more expensive after four consecutive price reductions.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the price of jet fuel for domestic flights for August from Tk 130.99 to Tk 159.52 per litre, an increase of Tk 28.53 per litre.
For international flights operated by both domestic and foreign airlines, the price of jet fuel, exempt from duties and VAT, has been raised from $0.8556 to $1.0358 per litre.
The commission formed a committee to review and adjust the monthly price of Jet A-1 submitted its report for August to the commission, taking into account international Platts rates, the US dollar exchange rate and changes in transportation costs.
BERC announced the revised prices in an order issued on Sunday.The new rates will come into effect from midnight on Sunday and will remain in force until further notice.
