ICAO to hold Green Airports Seminar 2026 in Cairo
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is hosting its Green Airports Seminar 2026 in Cairo on October 29–30, hosted by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN).

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will host its Green Airports Seminar 2026 in Cairo on October 29-30, bringing together aviation stakeholders to discuss ways to reduce airport emissions and strengthen resilience to climate risks.

The two-day event will take place at The St. Regis Cairo and be hosted by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN). Its theme is From Ambition to Implementation.

ICAO said airports play a critical role in aviation decarbonisation, climate resilience and the transition to more sustainable operations and infrastructure as the sector seeks to cut CO2 emissions and address growing climate-related risks.

The seminar will bring together representatives of states, airport operators, airlines, air navigation service providers, financial institutions, academic institutions and international organisations. Participants will exchange experiences and identify practical approaches to developing sustainable, climate-resilient airports.

The first day will focus on airport decarbonisation, covering both operations and infrastructure. Discussions will include operational measures to reduce aircraft emissions, decarbonising airport energy systems, noise management, resource circularity and sustainable plastic management.

Sessions will also examine Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF) and other cleaner energy options. Participants will discuss infrastructure readiness for electrified and hydrogen-powered ground support equipment, advanced air mobility and alternative propulsion technologies.

The second day will focus on climate adaptation and airport resilience, including the effects of climate risks on aviation infrastructure and operations. Discussions will draw on climate science and practical experience with extreme events, while examining adaptation planning, infrastructure resilience, and the financing and partnerships required to implement measures on a larger scale.

An exhibition will run alongside the seminar, allowing organisations to showcase their products and services and explore potential partnerships. Organisations interested in sponsorship or exhibition opportunities can find details on ICAO’s event website or contact envevents@icao.int.

ICAO has invited organisations to nominate representatives for the seminar. Registration information, the programme and speaker details are available on the organisation’s event website.
