Visa Policy-2026 now gazetted

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette of the Visa Policy-2026 on Thursday as the government of Bangladesh introduced the new replacing the 2006 Visa Policy.

Earlier on August 10, the new policy was approved at a cabinet meeting to make the visa issuance process more realistic and easier.

The approved Visa Policy-2026 is now published in book form by the Department of Printing and Publications. It takes immediate effect, according to the gazette notification.

The previous Visa Policy-2006 has been cancelled with the issuance of the new policy.

The notification, issued by the ministry’s Immigration-2 branch, said the decision had been taken in the public interest.

The order was issued on 3 September 2026 by Kazi Arifur Rahman, deputy secretary (additional charge) of the ministry.

The new policy is intended to make ther country's visa issuance process more effective and easier.
