Govt committed to people-friendly services: Millat

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat has said the government is committed to ensuring people-friendly services and development, urging public representatives and government officials to make sacrifices and work for public welfare.

“We have to work for public welfare within our respective areas of responsibility,” he said while addressing a coordination meeting at the Mymensingh district administration office on Monday.

The meeting reviewed law and order, drug control, good governance, transparency and accountability, implementation of the election manifesto, and supervision of public welfare and development activities in the district.

Millat said the successful implementation of the election manifesto and development programmes required joint efforts by the administration and public representatives.

“If we can fulfil our election manifesto, people will receive what they are entitled to. At the same time, their hopes and aspirations for the government will be fulfilled. If we fail to perform our duties properly, people will turn away from us,” he said.

He urged officials to ensure transparency and good governance in implementing ongoing development projects within the stipulated timeframe.

“Your sincerity is extremely important. I hope you will perform your responsibilities with sincerity and honesty,” he said, stressing the need for maximum vigilance against drugs and smuggling.

Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman, who chaired the meeting, said government offices and law enforcement agencies in the district were working together to improve law and order and ensure transparency in development projects.

He called for stronger collective efforts to fulfil people’s aspirations.

Heads of relevant government departments, local representatives, the city corporation administrator, distinguished citizens and journalists attended the meeting.
