Migration support between UK, Bangladesh stronger: Cooke

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke on Sunday observed that mutual cooperation between the United Kingdom (UK) and Bangladesh in the migration issue is growing stronger day by day.
 
Emerging out of a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the foreign ministry in Dhaka, she told journalists, "Besides migration cooperation, our conversation covered a wide range of shared priorities, including trade and investment, support for the Rohingyas and regional as well as international issues."
 
"The UK-Bangladesh partnership continues to go from strength to strength, underpinned by deep people-to-people connections, vibrant economic ties and cooperation on regional and global issues," the state news agency BSS reported citing the British envoy.

Regional and international issues of mutual interest also figured prominently in their discussions, she added.

Highlighting the foundation of bilateral relations, Cooke said the UK and Bangladesh share a longstanding partnership built on deep connections between the peoples of the two countries.

The relationship is also anchored in vibrant trade and investment ties, as well as close cooperation on regional and global issues, she added.

Cooke expressed her readiness to work closely with the state minister and the Bangladesh government to further deepen bilateral relations and translate the partnership into concrete gains for both countries.

"I look forward to meeting and working closely with the Honourable State Minister and, of course, the Government of Bangladesh to build on our strong partnership and deliver tangible benefits for both our countries," she said.
