Japan's Sub Working Group eyes T3 operations role

A proposal to operate and maintain the Third Terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was submitted on Tuesday by Japan's Sub Working Group, as per Aviation Express.

The firm submitted its proposal to Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq at the CAAB headquarters in Dhaka at 2 pm on August 25.

Masahiru Hirai submitted the proposal on behalf of the Japanese firm. Other CAAB members and representatives of the Japanese delegation were also present at the event.

The firm submitted separate technical and financial proposals for the operation and maintenance of the terminal.

The proposals will be evaluated by an RFP Evaluation Committee formed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. The committee includes representatives from CAAB, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Public-Private Partnership Authority and the Roads and Highways Department.

The technical proposal will be evaluated first, followed by the financial proposal. The evaluation process will then be followed by negotiations between the relevant parties.

Once the negotiations are completed, the date for signing the agreement will be finalised in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

The Third Terminal is one of Bangladesh’s largest and most significant aviation infrastructure projects. The government expects the terminal to strengthen the country’s aviation sector through modern technology, international-standard passenger services and efficient operational management.
