A striking glass bridge has been built over the sea in Kanyakumari, at the southern tip of India. Curved like a bow, the bridge connects the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue. It is about 77 metres long and 10 metres wide.

The bridge is about 55 metres long, with a large section suspended. Standing high above sea level, visitors can see a deep gorge through the glass below, while the Bay of Bengal stretches out ahead. The structure has been built strongly with storms and natural disasters in mind. Visakhapatnam can be reached by train, air or road.

Travellers seeking the experience of walking on a glass bridge in the mountains can head to Pelling in Sikkim. Built in 2018, the skywalk is known as one of India’s early glass-bottom skywalks.

The glass pathway is about 50 metres long, with a deep gorge below. When the sky is clear, Kanchenjunga, covered in snow, can be seen from here. The huge Chenrezig statue on a mountain peak also attracts attention. Views of the surrounding mountain valleys add to the appeal of the journey.

Visitors can stand at a height and look down at the green forest and distant mountains. From Wayanad, travellers need to reach Kalladi by road and then head towards the eco-park. A jeep may be required for part of the journey to the glass bridge, while visitors can also choose to walk.

'Puppy's Bridge

Madikeri, the main town of Coorg in Karnataka, also has a glass bridge. Built amid coffee plantations and green mountain valleys, the approximately 32-metre-long bridge is also known as 'Puppy’s Bridge of Coorg'.
