Egypt visa fee to rise for Bangladeshis in 2027
A decision has been taken to increase the fee for Egypt’s single-entry visa
Travel costs for Bangladeshis planning to visit Egypt may increase as the base fee for a single-entry visa is set to rise from US$30 to US$33 from January 1, 2027.
At the current exchange rate, US$33 is equivalent to around Tk4,050, meaning the base visa fee will increase by about Tk368.
According to circular No. 173/2026 circulated among tourism-sector stakeholders, a decision has been taken to increase the fee for Egypt’s single-entry visa. A decision by the Egyptian Cabinet on August 13, 2026 approved a US$3 increase in entry and transit visa fees.
An additional US$6 may be charged for services, visa issuance, banking costs and taxes. This additional amount is equivalent to around Tk740. As a result, the total cost could rise further if the applicable additional charges are imposed.
New visa system at Cairo airport
A new digital visa system was introduced on a trial basis at Egypt’s Cairo International Airport on August 1, 2026. Under the system, a QR code is being used instead of the conventional visa sticker.
Travellers can apply through the designated online system before travelling to Egypt. They can also obtain a visa through automated service centres at the arrival terminal of Cairo airport.
The total cost under the digital visa system is currently US$36. Of this, US$30 is the visa fee and US$6 is charged for digital services. The total cost is around Tk4,420.
If the base visa fee rises to US$33 from January 1, 2027, the total cost under the digital system could reach US$39, equivalent to around Tk4,790 at the current exchange rate. This means the total cost of the visa and services could increase by around Tk370 when using the system at Cairo airport.
Regular e-visa fee remains unchanged
For a regular e-visa, travellers must apply before their trip through the designated online system of Egypt’s Ministry of Interior.
The current fee for a single-entry tourist e-visa is US$30, equivalent to around Tk3,680. The fee for a multiple-entry tourist e-visa is US$65, or approximately Tk7,990.
However, no new fee schedule has yet been published on the official online system regarding the regular e-visa fee from January 1, 2027. Therefore, the new total cost of US$39 is considered applicable only to the digital visa system currently operating at Cairo International Airport.
Bangladeshi citizens need to know
For Bangladeshi tourists travelling to Egypt, it is important to confirm the type of visa required beforehand. The rules and costs for the regular e-visa and the digital visa system at Cairo airport are not the same. Travellers should therefore check the latest information from the relevant authorities before purchasing tickets, including which system they can apply through, the applicable additional service and banking charges, and the conditions for entry.
