The government has formed an executive committee to oversee Hajj management, appointing Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad as its chairman.

A gazette notification issued on Sunday by the Cabinet Division and signed by Additional Secretary Md Humayun Kabir confirmed the development, reports BSS.

According to the notification, the committee includes secretaries from key ministries such as Home Affairs, Public Administration, and Finance, along with heads of relevant government agencies.

The body will be responsible for preparing an action plan to ensure smooth Hajj operations, approving Hajj packages, and overseeing the implementation of decisions taken by the national Hajj committee.

The chairman will preside over all meetings, though a nominated member may chair sessions if required. The committee will meet as needed and can co-opt additional members when necessary.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs will provide secretarial support.

The notification also stated that a previous order issued on October 2, 2024, regarding the committee has been cancelled.
