Ashiq stands by flood-hit Banshkhali residents
As hundreds of families in Banshkhali remain stranded by floodwaters and are in urgent need of assistance, Ashiq felt it necessary to stand for humanity as part of a moral responsibility

BNP leader Mofizur Rahman Ashiq on Monday distributed relief materials among flood-affected families in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram on behalf of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, as humanitarian assistance continued in areas devastated by recent flooding.
Ashiq visited several flood-hit localities throughout the day and handed over food and other emergency relief items to affected residents. According to party sources, he has been carrying out relief activities over the past three days in Chhanua, Baharchhara and Katharia unions, as well as in Banshkhali municipality.
Speaking during the relief distribution, Ashiq said standing beside people affected by natural disasters is a moral responsibility. He said a large number of people in Banshkhali remain stranded by floodwaters and are in urgent need of assistance.
"On behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we are distributing food and emergency relief materials among flood victims. Our party leaders and activists are working across the affected areas to ensure that assistance reaches families according to their needs," he said.
Ashiq also stressed that the suffering of flood-hit communities could be reduced through coordinated efforts by the government, political parties and people from all walks of life. He said relief activities on behalf of Tarique Rahman would continue until affected families are able to return to normal life.
Among those present during the relief distribution were Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Muminul Islam Jisan, Chattogram city Jubo Dal leader Abul Kalam Azad, Chattogram University Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Imranul Haque, Joint Secretary SM Ashek Ullah and Banshkhali municipality Chhatra Dal leader Jihan, among others.
Ashiq previously served as Joint General Secretary of the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Party leaders said he played an active role in anti-government political movements during the Sheikh Hasina regime and was allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance on two occasions.
