The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Bangladesh on Tuesday said its chief of mission held talks with the country's law minister to reaffirm cooperation on migration governance and combating human trafficking, the UN migration agency said in a statement.

IOM Bangladesh said Dr Laura Tomm Bonde met Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman to reaffirm the longstanding partnership between the Government of Bangladesh and IOM, according to a post on the organisation's verified Facebook page.

The meeting focused on advancing cooperation to prevent human trafficking, strengthen survivor-centred and rights-based justice, and promote safe, orderly and regular migration, IOM said.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of legal preparedness and institutional collaboration in addressing climate mobility and emerging migration challenges, the statement added.

IOM said it remains committed to working alongside the Government of Bangladesh to strengthen migration governance, protect vulnerable populations and promote solutions that leave no one behind.
