The US Embassy in Dhaka has advised prospective travellers to the United States to ensure they have sufficient financial resources and proper documentation ahead of visa interviews, according to a message posted on its verified Facebook page.

In the advisory, the embassy said individuals planning to visit the United States should be ready to cover their travel expenses independently, including any costs arising from possible travel disruptions or medical emergencies during their stay.

The message also urged applicants to attend visa interviews well prepared and to carry documents demonstrating that they are unlikely to rely on public assistance after entering the United States.

The embassy further warned that submitting false documents during the visa process amounts to fraud. Such actions could lead to disqualification from obtaining a visa and may result in permanent ineligibility, it said.

US missions worldwide periodically issue guidance to visa applicants to help them better understand application requirements and comply with immigration rules.
