The US Embassy in Dhaka on Monday explained the procedures of the Visa Bond Pilot Programme, saying eligible applicants would receive payment instructions after their visa interviews and must pay the bond within 30 days.

In a post on its verified Facebook page, the embassy said consular officers would provide qualified applicants with a direct link to the government payment portal, Pay.gov, to complete the transaction.

Under the programme, successful applicants will be issued a single-entry visa valid for up to three months and will be required to enter the United States through designated commercial ports of entry.

The embassy said the bond would be automatically cancelled and refunded once travellers returned to their home country, provided they complied with all visa conditions, including refraining from unauthorised employment in the United States and departing before their authorised stay expired.
