Aviation Minister visits Dhaka Airport after Biman emergency landing
Aviation Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat inspects the Biman aircraft at Dhaka Airport on Saturday after its emergency landing.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat visited Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Saturday to oversee the situation following the emergency landing of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft.

Accompanied by senior aviation officials, the minister monitored the situation after Biman flight BG436 from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka landed safely at 3:09pm following a technical malfunction involving its nose landing gear, according to an official press release.

The Dash 8 aircraft, carrying 78 passengers and four crew members, departed Cox’s Bazar at 1:35pm and was scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 2:30pm.

However, a malfunction in the aircraft’s No. 2 hydraulic system prevented the nose landing gear from extending through the normal procedure, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency.

The pilot notified Area Control of the emergency at 2:20pm while the aircraft was flying at an altitude of approximately 18,000 feet.

Area Control immediately informed Dhaka Tower, which activated emergency response procedures and placed airport fire and rescue teams on high alert.

Airport authorities also made the necessary preparations for aircraft marshalling and coordinated with the relevant operational units.

The pilot subsequently extended the nose landing gear using an alternative procedure, allowing the aircraft to land safely at HSIA at 3:09pm.

All 78 passengers and four crew members were safe after the landing. Airport authorities coordinated their response to ensure the safety of everyone on board.

Senior officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Biman Bangladesh Airlines and other airport agencies monitored the situation and coordinated the necessary emergency response measures.
